- SATURDAY SERVE PAINT DAY AT PRMS
Saturday, July 18 In recent years, it has become our tradition to help brighten up the Paul Revere Middle School campus by painting classrooms that endure wear and tear during the school year, preparing them for a new year and a new start for students! Join us for an hour or stay all day--the more hands for this project, the merrier! We will be painting the second floor classrooms beginning on Saturday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m. and we expect to finish the work by 2 p.m. This is a great opportunity to help our friends across the Beltway, give our families a project of giving back while giving our youth some community hours. We will have some snacks and water, but feel free to bring anything that will keep you going through the day. Wear paint clothes, grab a paint brush (if you have one) and come with a serving attitude! If you are interested in participating, please contact Tom Hodge (thodge46@outlook.com), Kristy Elmore (kelmore@gpch.org) or Steve Murphy (smurphy4510@gmail.com) as this will assist in determining work teams for the day.
- HAPPY 150TH TO GRACE PRESBYTERIAN!
Grace's 150th Birthday Celebration is set for Sunday, August 23! For 150 years, Grace Presbyterian has been a fixture of faith in Houston, and we are going to celebrate. From humble beginnings downtown through today, it's incredible to see how God has moved through this church. We mark every milestone and every life changed as we celebrate God's faithfulness, but we're even more excited about what's next. We step into the future with hope and anticipation, ready to see how God will continue to use us in the years to come. Planning is underway to mark this exciting time in the life of Grace. We will have a look back at our history, special worship time, games, serve opportunities, the yearly Ministry Fair, and delicious food all during our normal Sunday worship and Equipping Hour time. This is a perfect opportunity to invite friends and neighbors, so start thinking about who you would want to step out and invite that day! CAKE MIX It's a birthday party, so bring a gift! We would love you to bring funfetti icing or boxed cake mix for us to give to neighborhood schools and serve partners so everyone can make a cake and celebrate a birthday! You can bring the mixes to Grace and put them in the baskets in the Narthex, or click HERE and have it shipped right to us! Easy as pie... or cake. POTLUCK LUNCH Join us for lunch in Massey-Tucker Hall and bring a favorite dish to share with the church family. As part of the celebration, we'll also collect your recipes to create a special Grace Cookbook—a keepsake filled with the meals and memories that have brought our community together over the years. We hope you'll come celebrate, share a meal, and leave your mark on Grace's history! Sign up HERE to let us know what you are bringing and to submit your recipe! IMMUNIZATION FAIR Each year, on a Sunday morning around fall kick-off, Grace offers a variety of immunizations offered to the congregation. That event will coincide with the Birthday Party on August 23. Time is 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the McKechnie Dining Room (MT104)--note the event in your calendars.
GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK
We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit—We celebrate what God is doing! What a beautiful day of serving with Grace Presbyterian Church at Bo's Place! We are grateful for a sweet team of Grace volunteers and the gift of fellowship and shared stories. And Steve Arnold shared a beautiful prayer to bless our time--definitely one of his many gifts! We loved experiencing the mission of Bo’s Place, and we pray we brought some encouragement and love to families who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This is such a special ministry to children and families! And it was a bit of learning experience: They have a group specifically for parents who have lost a baby. And they have programming to support friends of someone who has experienced loss. It's a remarkable program, and we are honored to help.
THE BIBLE IN A YEAR UPDATES
Each week, we will provide questions to help guide us through the readings from the previous week. These may be used in your own reflection time, in your Disciple Groups, or other classes. and are available at the Bible in a Year page HERE. Scroll down to the "Going Deeper" section. All of the questions from previous weeks are available as well should you want to review something or start reading again! HERE you will find a multitude of other resources to help you with the reading plan, including videos, podcasts, and articles to bring greater insight to what you have read. You will also find recaps and summaries of sections for times when you may fall behind. Keep up the good work!
WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via the "Watch Online" link found HERE.
This Sunday we continue through the New Testament with the The Bible in a Year study, this week looking into Acts 20:17-24. There will be some time to celebrate America's 250th birthday, thanking God for the blessings of freedom. We will celebrate the sacrament of The Lord's Supper, as well. See you at 9:30 a.m.!
