- BE A MENTOR
Mentoring builds meaningful connections between children and adults, fostering love, acceptance, and encouragement that positively impact school, home, and community life. Research links student mentoring to improved academic, social, and economic outcomes. Friends of Westchase unites schools, churches, businesses, and individuals to strengthen the community through relationships. School mentors spend about 30 minutes with elementary or middle school students, offering consistent support to those facing academic, behavioral, or home challenges. Training is provided with activities, talking points, and games to build connection.
Mentoring will begin in early October. Training and campus orientation are offered in September and January. Please consider joining our mentoring program this fall at one of our three partner schools:

- WOMEN'S FALL BIBLE STUDIES
Registration is open for women's fall Bible studies! Studies begin September 9! If you have questions about any of the women's studies, contact Traci Baudin. Inspire Women's Bible Study – Fall 2025 Join us on Tuesday mornings or evenings for our fall Bible studies. We'll use Nancy Guthrie's The Lamb of God: Seeing Jesus in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. Jesus' declaration that Moses wrote of Him frames this study of four books of the Pentateuch―Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy―as we discover the many ways that Moses spoke about Christ. We'll see that the Bible's story from beginning to end is the story of the Lamb―the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Order the book: The Lamb of God: Seeing Jesus in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy HERE. Our study runs from Tuesday, September 9, through Tuesday, November 18. Morning group: 9:30-11:30 a.m. (large group in Sanctuary followed by small groups) Join us for lunch after our first morning meeting on September 9 (cost is $15)! Register for the morning group HERE. Evening group: 6:45-8:45 p.m. (large group in MT 201 followed by small groups). We'll gather together with our friends at Grace812 each week for dinner at 6 p.m. in MT 101 before our study. - THE BIBLE IN A YEAR
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”— Psalm 119:105
Regular Bible reading is one of the most important habits you can develop. That is why we are undertaking a church-wide “The Bible in a Year” plan for the next year! Each week, sermons and equipping classes and groups will all be aligned to the reading plan, which will guide us through the entirety of scripture in 365 days.
Read: You will receive a reading plan that Grace will be following through January. Each day’s reading includes a couple of chapters and a Psalm, allowing you to track the chronological, overarching story of the Bible in a year. Grace’s standard Bible version is the New International Version (NIV), but you are free to use a translation you prefer.
Worship: Sunday worship will track with the reading schedule for the next year. The sermon will use the scriptures you have been reading the week previous, allowing you to place the sermon text in its context and place within the biblical storyline.
Study: In addition, all Sunday equipping hour classes, discipleship groups, and ongoing Bible studies will be following the reading plan timeline. All ages, elementary and up, will be following curriculum that will correspond to the study.
HERE you will find a multitude of resources to help you with the reading plan, including videos, podcasts, and articles to bring greater insight to what you have read. You will also find recaps and summaries of sections for times when you may fall behind.
We can’t wait to hear your stories of new insights and deepened faith that will surely come from time spent with God’s Word! Throughout August, the Combined Adult Equipping Hour will be getting us ready for this adventure. Meeting at 11 a.m. in MT Fellowship Hall, this is a great chance to have your questions answered, learn a little more about what is in store, and find encouragement to take the plunge! Then on September 14, The Bible in a Year class will begin to meet. This class will meet each week to discuss what we’ve been reading and support one another as we practice the daily reading of scripture together. We will be using videos and other resources from the BibleProject, and the class will be a discussion-based format facilitated by Grace pastors and staff. Let us know you are coming to the class by registering HERE.

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK
We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing! On Sunday evening, August 17, the Sanctuary was alive with the sounds and sights of Activate-- a night of student-led worship for the entire congregation. We invited everyone to bring their entire family and all their friends to experience evening worship orchestrated by our students, and it was a wonderful night! Our hearts were full seeing so many--young and old-- join in a night of intergenerational worship. Coolest of all was that the students planned each part, so the worship truly sprang from their hearts! If you weren't there, you may watch the service HERE.
WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via livestream HERE.
This Sunday, we will continuing the sermon series on Zechariah, looking into Zechariah 13:7-9. We will have a Story of Grace during the service. Adult Equipping Hour classes are meeting together in MT Fellowship Hall at 11 a.m. See you Sunday at 9:30 a.m.! __________ We often hear about “time” as one of the aspects of Generous Living. An easy way to contribute your time is to consider joining the team of ushers at Grace. This necessary service provides a rewarding opportunity to meet and greet the members of the family of Grace. Please reach out to Harold Silver (713-304-0436) or Richard Raines (281-658-8114) with questions or to express an interest in serving as an usher.
