  1. HAPPY 150TH TO GRACE--BRING A FRIEND!
  2. Grace's 150th Birthday Celebration is this Sunday, August 23!

For 150 years, Grace Presbyterian has been a fixture of faith in Houston, and we are going to celebrate. From humble beginnings downtown through today, it's incredible to see how God has moved through this church.

We are celebrating in a big way and we want to invite everyone to the party. Bring a friend (or two or three or more!) at 9:30 a.m. for worship in the Sanctuary. We'll spend time reflecting on God's faithfulness through 150 years and praying for His guidance and provision for the next 150 years and beyond.

As worship concludes, you won't want to miss the annual Ministry Fair in the lobby and cafe, highlighting everything Grace is up to this fall--there is a place for everyone to get more involved in the rhythm of Grace!

Then at 11:15 a.m., gather with your friends and Grace family around the table for a good old fashioned Potluck Lunch, in Fellowship Hall, provided with love from Grace covenant partners.

When you are done eating, the party keeps going! There will be snow cones, games, and a dunk tank in the Courtyard. Then at 11:45 a.m., head to the Grace School cafeteria to serve our neighbors by putting together birthday cake kits so everyone can share in the celebration.

Finally, throughout the morning, Grace is offering a variety of immunizations offered to the congregation. Randall’s Pharmacy will be here from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., in MT104, giving vaccines for flu, covid, pneumonia, shingles, and TDAP (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis). There is no need to pre-register--just drop by! Please also remember to bring your insurance card.

Food has always been a meaningful way we connect, celebrate, and care for one another. To honor our rich history and the many memories made around the table, we are creating a commemorative church cookbook filled with treasured recipes from our congregation and community. Sign up HERE to submit your recipe!

  3. CULTIVATING A FLOURISHING CHURCH
  4. Help Shape Grace's Future

Our staff leadership team has been prayerfully planning for Grace's next season of ministry as we seek God's direction for the coming years. This fall, our team will participate in ECO's Cultivating a Flourishing Church cohort, joining other congregations in discerning how to lead faithfully and strengthen ministry for the future. As we prepare for this opportunity, we want to hear from you. Your insights, experiences, and prayers are an important part of this process.

We invite all covenant partners and ministry leaders to participate in our next collaborative workshop on Wednesday, August 26, 6–8 p.m. dinner at 5:30 p.m. Together, we'll reflect on where God has been at work, identify opportunities for growth, and prayerfully discern the future of Grace. Thank you for your partnership and prayers as we seek God's leading together.

We want these times together to be fruitful, and we also want to honor your time. HERE is additional information about each workshop, along with some pre-work to help prepare for our time together. Julia's original letter, which provides more detail, is available to read HERE.

  5. WESTMINSTER CATECHISM CLASS
  6. The Westminster Catechism class
    Sundays at 11 a.m. in MTH-A, beginning September 13

The Westminster Catechism is a traditional question- and-answer teaching tool written in the 1640s to summarize Christian beliefs for the Reformed and Presbyterian traditions, and today, it continues to provide simple, biblical answers to the most important questions of the Christian faith. Each week, this class will be going through the questions of the catechism one by one, allowing you to be “always prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. “ (1 Peter 3:15)

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit—We celebrate what God is doing!

The smiles, the excitement, the hugs… the 2026–2027 school year kicked off this week at Grace School! Our Gators met their teachers, reconnected with friends, and are ready to learn, grow, and make this year one to remember.

THE BIBLE IN A YEAR UPDATES

We are coming down the home stretch! Grace staff and covenant partners are reading right along with you! On Mondays - Thursdays, they share their thoughts, insights, and inspirations from the daily reading via video. It's a great place to go if you need a little reminder that you are not by yourself getting through the readings each week! The Word About The Word videos are posted on the Grace Presbyterian Church Facebook and Instagram pages each of those days, or you may access them HERE. You do not need a Facebook account to see the message.

HERE you will find a multitude of other resources to help you with the reading plan, including videos, podcasts, and articles to bring greater insight to what you have read. You will also find recaps and summaries of sections for times when you may fall behind. Keep up the good work!

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via the "Watch Online" link found HERE.

This Sunday is the big 150th Birthday celebration, and we will start in worship. We continue through the New Testament with the The Bible in a Year study, this week looking into Hebrews 12:1-3. We will also have a Children at the Chancel time, and some special moments to look at our past and anticipate our future! See you at 9:30 a.m., and then at the Ministry Fair, Pot Luck Lunch, and the service project. Or the dunk tank. Or the snow cone machine...
