Lenten Devotional 2024

Today's Scripture:

1 Peter 3:18-22 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

Read: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.
This passage is about how Jesus suffered and died to forgive our sins and reconcile us with God. Both righteous and unrighteous alike, we are to benefit from His sacrifice.

Reflect: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
In our daily lives scripture encourages us to embrace forgiveness, reconcile with others, and extend compassion beyond our immediate circles. Just as Christ endured hardships for a greater purpose, we can find strength in facing our own struggles, and trust there is a redemptive and transformative outcome.

Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
I am called to respond by incorporating the principles of forgiveness and unity in my daily interactions, serving others with compassion, and seeking opportunities for reconciliation within my community.
