Today's Scripture:
John 6:35-40
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
Read: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.
This scripture is telling us to COME and BELIEVE in Jesus! When we do we will never be hungry or thirsty again because the bread of life and the living water He offers will nourish our bodies and spirits. "All who COME to me, I will EMBRACE and NEVER TURN THEM AWAY.” Jesus came down from heaven because God sent Him. Jesus will not lose even one of us who God gave to Him and He will raise us up on the last day. He longs for everyone to embrace Jesus, for they will be blessed to experience eternal life when they do.
Reflect: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
In my college years, I felt the calling to “come to Jesus” in a new way. At the very moment I repented of my sins, He forgave me! I am forever grateful that Jesus will never let me go, and He will do the same for anyone who believes in Him!
Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
How will anyone COME to Jesus if they do not know about Him? Since I BELIEVE in Jesus, it is my privilege and duty to tell others who He is and how knowing Him has changed my heart, my actions and where I will spend eternity. Once we choose Jesus to rule in our hearts, we can never be driven away! “For this is the will of My Father, that EVERYONE who BEHOLDS the Son and BELIEVES in Him may have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.” (v 40) Be thankful that we are members of an eternal family when we COME and BELIEVE in Him!
