Lenten Devotional 2024

Today's Scripture:

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Read: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.
(Andrew) I think this means that we know God loves us so much that He will always be with us. Sometimes we might be nervous to try new things. We might be scared like when we are about to go to Kindergarten. But, we know that God will be with us no matter what. We don’t need to be scared because with God and our mommy and daddy protecting us, we can be strong and brave.

Reflect: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
(Luke) When I first started playing baseball I was the youngest one on my team. My brother didn’t want to play, so I had to go by myself and play. I was worried and nervous since everyone was so much bigger than me. But, I knew that I really wanted to play and that God was with me. He would help me hit the ball and not give up. He would help me stay calm and focused. It makes me feel like I can do new and harder things, like go to Kindergarten next year and try new camps, because I know God will be with me.

Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
We want to show other kids, maybe when they first come to our Sunday School class, that they can be brave and they will have fun. We like to have new friends on Sunday and show them around our church so they aren’t scared to leave their mommy and daddy.
