Lenten Devotional 2024

Today's Scripture:

1 Peter 3:18-22 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. After being made alive, he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits—to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand—with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.

Read: Reflect on a story in your life that pertains to this scripture.
God understands our suffering and struggles as we have walked in His shoes. He is aware of the righteous and unrighteous, tribulations and struggles. God's love and support is unconditional. As we are baptized, we are opening our hearts to God’s forgiveness. We must trust in God that He has our life in His hands. God is eternal, and our ability to follow and worship God as a disciple will be everlasting.

Reflect: What is this scripture telling you during this season?
Owning my own company, every day I get to choose the type of business I want to pursue and the relationships that I involve not only myself with but also my family. I pride myself in being ethical and fair in business, but there has been a time or two when other competing companies exaggerate their abilities to land them the job I am bidding for and succeed. However, it will come back to my company because the others did not follow through with what was promised.

Respond: How is this scripture calling you to respond?
Forgiveness and patience. In my life, there have been several times that work or friendships have not ended up the way I planned. As I have aged (36 years old) I have come to find that forgiveness is worth so much. Understanding and moving forward with compassion and accepting fate is crucial. God has a plan for your life, and He knew that path before you were created.
